Hawaiian elders and youth in cultural gathering

Our Impact

Twelve programs. One people.

From scholarship endowments to elder care, cultural perpetuation to veteran honoring — every Kīnā'ole Foundation program is grounded in Hawaiian values and directed by Hawaiian community needs.

How These Programs Are Funded

Every dollar deployed to these programs is generated by the Kīnā'ole Family of Companies — eight Native 8(a) operating companies serving federal missions globally. The Foundation owns the companies, and the companies fund the Foundation.

Na Koa Alii Scholarship

A merit-based scholarship grounded in the values and beliefs of the Royal Order of Kamehameha. It provides financial assistance to full-time post-secondary students of Hawaiian ancestry pursuing a degree at an accredited vocational school, or two-year or four-year institution. The Order was established by King Kamehameha V on April 11, 1865 and named in honor of his grandfather King Kamehameha the Great. Today, its purpose continues to unite men of Hawaiian descent in fraternal and benevolent work — preserving Hawaiian culture, customs, and traditions, uplifting the Hawaiian people, and developing leadership.

Lunalilo Home

Elder Care · #02

Lunalilo Home

King Lunalilo was the first of the large landholding ali'i to create a charitable trust for the benefit of his people. The purpose of the trust was to build a home to accommodate the poor, destitute, and infirmed people of Hawaiian blood or extraction, with preference given to older people. Kīnā'ole supports Lunalilo Home's continued mission to care for kupuna with dignity and aloha.

Rent Relief
30+ families supported

Housing · #03

Rent Relief

During COVID, many people lost their jobs. Some were on the verge of homelessness. Some actually lost their home. We worked together with Helping Hands Hawaii, as well as individual families, to provide much-needed rent relief to Native Hawaiian families. We helped over 30 families offset expenses through our rent relief program — and continue to support families navigating housing instability.

Na Koa Wounded Warrior Regatta

Since 2009, the State of Hawaii has been home to an annual canoe race to honor wounded warriors and celebrate their resiliency throughout their recovery. The Hawaii Chapter of the Association of the United States Army hosts the Na Koa Wounded Warrior Canoe Regatta at Fort DeRussy Beach Park, bringing soldiers, leaders, wounded warriors, Gold Star families, and the broader community together. Our annual donation goes toward the production of the awards.
